Guyana: More Than a Missionary

As the sun beats down on his head, Global Mission pioneer Azzes Khan walks along a dirt road that runs through his community. Unique flags lining the fences whip in the wind. These flags represent the various religious beliefs of his community.

Azzes’ community is comprised of different faiths and has been challenging to reach with the gospel, but he witnesses God continually making a way. After five years of conducting health checks and visits and meeting other physical needs, Azzes has seen many children and adults give their lives to Jesus.

Others have not accepted the Lord yet, but they still welcome Azzes’ work and often attend the Adventist church he planted. Safia, a teen in the community, is one of these grateful attendees. “I appreciate it because he cares,” she says. “You rarely find religious leaders going to their members’ houses to pray and join together with them as a family.”

The people energize Azzes in his work. He explains, “I feel like more than a missionary. I feel connected to the people [as I] share Jesus Christ with them.”

Please remember Azzes and pray that God will continue to pave the way for the gospel in his community and throughout Guyana.
