Peipei joined the Thai children in singing a song about Jesus in Thai. But he didn’t feel very comfortable. Thai didn’t feel like his language. His eyes became sad, and his shoulders sagged.
Sometimes the young man needed food. Pork and seafood, which are popular dishes in Thailand, were served often at the prison, but the young man didn’t eat unclean food.
Each day, she would assign each student their city. Then, in morning prayer, she would pray, “We would like to pray especially for these cities . . .”

Little Boy and his friends suffered from itchy hands and feet— with no solution in sight. When two missionaries arrived, they tried sharing stories about God, but the children were distracted by their discomfort. The missionaries prayed and recalled a remedy that could help.
With a bright smile, Penny ran off to do her homework. She was happy because she was sure that she would finally see her dad. But as she began her homework, a worrisome thought crossed her mind.
Renato had a heart-to-heart talk with God during the funeral. “Give me strength to answer the question that my adopted father gave me,” he prayed. “Did I come here to be a missionary or a vacationary?”
Because she was almost fully paralyzed, she hadn’t been able to do anything. We were heartbroken to see her in that state and quickly helped her back into her chair and cleaned her.
The Institute of World Mission provides appropriate cross-cultural training for all missionaries. The Institute cooperates with a tentmaker program and further serves the church with consulting, training and strategic planning for the worldwide mission of the church.
The needs and challenges of the worldwide Adventist Church are great and varied. The need is for youth, and the young at heart, to respond to the call to share the good news of the gospel with those who need to hear it.
More than half the world's population will live in urban areas today. As the world's urban landscape changes, so will our approach to mission. The Adventist Church is committed to finding the best way to tell the world about Jesus.
