Colombia - A Little Taste of Eden

I

think God put me here so I'd learn about the benefits of a vegetarian diet,” Cesar says with a laugh. He’s part of a new church planting project in Bogotá, Colombia, called the Garden of Eden. The project involves a restaurant, store, and health and cooking classes and has big dreams of offering massage and hydrotherapy to community members.

“We want people to understand that we serve a God who wants us to take care of our health,” he explains.

In the restaurant, they offer vegan versions of traditional Colombian dishes and also sell homemade goods. One neighbor, Estela, was delighted when she first visited. She says, “The food was really good—more than just lettuce!”

And that’s only part of what kept bringing her back. Estela saw how committed the team was to improving lives through weekly health and cooking classes as well as through prayer meeting and Sabbath church services. Community members have the opportunity to ask questions and learn how to live their best life.

Two people have already given their lives to Christ, and more are taking Bible studies. Please pray for this initiative and many other church planting projects in Colombia as they meet community needs and put love into action.
