Associate Secretary | G. Alexander Bryant
Dr. Glenward Alexander (“Alex”) Bryant, serves as associate secretary of the General Conference and executive secretary of the North American Division. He formerly served as the president of the Central States Conference.
Bryant earned a degree in Theology and Business Administration from Oakwood College, now Oakwood University, in 1982 and then served as a minister in Springfield, Missouri, and Coffeyville and Independence Kansas. In 1986, Bryant was ordained to the gospel ministry and continued his education by earning a Master of Divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University in 1988. The Central States Conference then voted Bryant to serve as Youth, Pathfinder of the National Servicemen’s Organization (NSO), Temperance director, and Education superintendant.
During college Bryant served as a student missionary in Japan for one year. He also served as the Adventist Youth director at Oakwood and as president of the Black Students Association of the Seminary (BSAS) at Andrews.
The General Conference Executive Committee elected Bryant to serve as Executive Secretary of the North American Division in October 2008. He was re-elected at the 2010 General Conference Session. In December 2011, Bryant received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Bryant is married to the former Desiree Wimbish, who serves as superintendent of Education for Central States Conference.
