Adventist Mission
How You Can be Part of It
Some people think that frontline Adventist mission work is a thing of the past. That couldn't be further from the truth! Each year some 2,500 Global Mission pioneers, 900 interdivision missionaries, and 1,000 Adventist volunteers are sharing the love of Jesus in small villages and big cities in more than 200 countries and areas of the world. But many more are still needed.
Please prayerfully consider how you can be part of Adventist mission work and how you can help to reach the unreached with hope.
Be a Missionary
Whether you're interested in long-term, short-term, career, or volunteer service, these links will get you started.
Volunteer Opportunities (from 1 day - 1 year)
The General Conference helps to arrange for almost 1,000 volunteers a year to go and serve in countries all around the world. Some pay all their own costs, others get a stipend, and some even get help with their tickets--they just don't earn a salary or get retirement credit. You can find current openings and information about each of them at www.AdventistVolunteers.org.
Career Opportunities
Explore the General Conference Secretariat Web site to find the current mission career needs of the world-wide Seventh-day Adventist Church. From corporate office positions to jobs in remote jungle villages, you'll find a variety of service opportunities that challenge your skills, commitment, and sense of adventure.
Tentmaker Opportunities
Some countries are closed to traditional missions. If you are an Adventist professional and/or business person interested in working in countries closed to conventional missionaries, click here.
Support the Mission Offerings
Without the mission offerings that are given in local churches worldwide, mission work would certainly grind to a halt. Your offerings have made it possible to send missionaries to serve wherever they are needed. You have also helped to keep churches, schools, hospitals, clinics, and community centers open to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people in the surrounding area.
Weekly Mission Offerings
Most Sabbath Schools collect a weekly offering. If yours doesn't, you can mark your tithe envelope "World Budget" or
give securely online ((VISA, MasterCard, and American Express accepted.)
Thirteenth Sabbath Offering
Every thirteenth Sabbath an offering is collected during the Sabbath School program to support special mission projects in the division being emphasized that quarter.
Make a Direct Donation
Except for the Annual Sacrifice Offering which is collected each year in local churches, Global Mission projects are funded by donations from people like you. These donations support projects that have been carefully planned by people at the local level, those who know best how to reach others within their own culture. To make a direct donation,
give securely online (VISA, MasterCard, and American Express accepted), call 1-800-648-5824, or send a check or money order to Global Mission, 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904-6601.
Planned Giving
If you would like information on how you can include a gift to Global Mission in your will or trust, contact General Conference Trust Services at: 1-877-WILLPLAN or visit www.willplan.org.
Prayer
Your prayers are needed and greatly appreciated. Please pray for those who are in active mission service. Pray for those who are still waiting to her about a God who truly loves them. And pray that each one of us will do our part, according to the best of our ability, to help spread the gospel all around the world.
Encouragement
Do you know a missionary? Letters and e-mails are such an encouragement to those who are serving far from home. When your missionary friends replay, share their stories and experiences with your local church family and invited them to be involved as well.
Thanks so much for your support!
